Stabilisation South transept

The South Transept has considerable earthquake damage and will be deconstructed.  We will install a supporting frame to hold the side walls in place and provide a working platform for the stonemasons.   When the deconstruction is finished, the area will be enclosed to make it weather-proof.

September 2020 – The main focus has been pouring the large concrete foundation needed for the steel support frame that will be used to stabilise the transept. Once this has been installed we will start carefully deconstructing the transept wall.
