A solid foundation has already been laid for the reinstatement project.

On 22 August 2018, a joint venture agreement was signed that cemented the path to reinstatement.

The agreement saw the establishment of a new company –
Christ Church Cathedral Reinstatement Limited (CCRL) to manage and deliver the reinstatement.

Reinstatement Limited (CCRL)

The new company, CCRL, is registered for charitable status and is chaired by Justin Murray, an investment banker and company director.

CCRL has two equal shareholders

  1. Church Property Trustees (CPT), which owns the Cathedral on behalf of the Christchurch Anglican Diocese and is chaired by the Bishop.
  2. Christ Church Cathedral Reinstatement Trust (CCRT) is chaired by Christchurch businessman Peter Guthrey. This Crown-appointed trust is charged with helping to govern and raise funds for the project.
