Embracing heritageJuly 21, 2019
We’re looking forward to sharing the Cathedral’s rich heritage during the 2019 Beca Christchurch Heritage Festival in October.
- Children aged 5 to 10 are invited to discover the story behind the Rose Window—how it was created, what the design means, what happened during the earthquakes, and what will happen during the reinstatement project. They’ll then make their own Rose Window using cardboard and cellophane.
- The stories and craftsmanship behind the Cathedral’s stone work and stained glass will be on show during live demonstrations with expert heritage commentary. The audience can watch, ask questions and see examples of retrieved Cathedral artefacts up close.
- Small groups will be able to venture inside the fences to see the Cathedral up closer. The guides, who are heritage and Cathedral experts, will tailor the information to the audience’s heritage interests.
You’ll be able to reserve your spot from August.
